Ward Gethin Archer reins in the cash for West Norfolk horse riding charity

Ward Gethin Archer staff recently attended Downham Market’s carnival and fun day to raise funds for the West Norfolk Riding for the Disabled Association.

A total of £113 was raised with a tombola stall and the total donation has been rounded up to £200 by Ward Gethin Archer themselves.

Rosie O'Grady, Chairwoman at the Magpie Centre said: “We rely entirely on voluntary help, as well as donations and legacies to deliver our services and are eternally grateful for the generous support from the staff at Ward Gethin Archer.”

“With the donations we receive, we are able to run activities such as riding and carriage driving to all age groups and, wherever possible, to people with any disability.”

West Norfolk Riding for the Disabled has been operating at the Magpie Centre from Wallington Hall for over 30 years and gives over 130 riding and carriage driving lessons a week to people of all ages and abilities, supported by over 60 volunteers who help in lessons, with the ponies, field maintenance and fundraising.

Director and Residential Conveyancer at Ward Gethin Archer’s Downham Market office, Adrian Long commented, “As a company with an office based in Downham Market, we are really pleased to be able to help in any way we can those less fortunate in our own local community .”

“Anyone with a physical or learning disability, no matter how young or old can really benefit from time spent with the Magpie Centre’s horses or ponies, by building up core muscles or simply gaining more confidence.”

As a small independent charity, the Magpie Centre is dependent on donations and volunteers from the local community who give their time in many different ways.

Rosie O'Grady, continued, “We always need volunteers who can spare a few hours each week to help us to continue to make a real difference to the lives of the riders and carriage drivers who use our centre.”

Anyone wishing to volunteer or make a donation are being asked to ring the centre on 01553 810202 or email magpiecentrewnrda@hotmail.co.uk.
